The National Pharmacy Association (NPA) is asking their members to join a day of action on Thursday 20 June – “One day to #saveourpharmacies” – to get the attention of the next government.

Many members have asked what protest action they could take to show the urgent need for government to save our pharmacies – from turning off the lights for two hours or wearing black in the pharmacy, to posting on social media using #saveourpharmacies. The NPA has taken legal advice about what pharmacies in the UK could do without breaching contractual and professional obligations.

Community pharmacy is at crisis point with 10 pharmacies closing a week and a £1.3bn funding deficit in England, and funding, medicine shortages and IT issues in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

NPA have sent campaign packs to all independent pharmacies across the UK.
