Important Update: First Local Health Campaign 2025/26

The first local health campaign that requires community pharmacy support as part of the new Community Pharmacy Contractual Framework (CPCF) will go live on Monday 24 November and run until Sunday 14 December 2025.

Due to delays in some pharmacies receiving the required posters and leaflets, pharmacies can delay the start of the camapign until these resources are received. Please ensure the campaign runs for 21 days and begins any time from week commencing 24 November

This campaign, run by Herts and West Essex (HWE) ICB, focuses on asking patients to ‘Only Order What You Need’ (OOWYN). It will run alongside the ICB’s public-facing communication campaign and encourages patients to download and use the NHS app for ordering their medicines.

Important Note on Reporting Deadline

Community Pharmacy Hertfordshire (CPH) has reviewed the campaign terms and is ensuring all contractors are aware of the operational details.

Due to the delay in the materials arriving and the Christmas period coming fast upon us please note that the ICB will delay the deadline for return of campaign KPI data collection forms until Monday 12 January.

Campaign Requirements

All community pharmacies are required to use the attached resources and follow the steps below to ensure they are actively taking part in the campaign:

Resources Attached:

Please Note: A printed copy of the poster and leaflets has been sent to all pharmacies and should be with you in the coming days

Campaign Details

  • Community pharmacies should put up the ‘Only Order What You Need’ campaign poster in a prominent patient facing area of the pharmacy for at least the duration of the community pharmacy campaign.
  • Pharmacy team members will approach patients and ask them if they need all of the medicines that they have ordered.
  • If a patient responds that they do not need everything that they are collecting they should be advised not to order more of the same medicine next time.
  • If the patient does not require the item, the reason(s) behind this should be explored and appropriate resources shared (See Herts and West Essex ICB webpages and communication toolkit for further information).

Data Recording Requirements (For Campaign Evaluation)

To enable the ICB to evaluate the effectiveness of this campaign, pharmacy teams are required to record the following information using the attached tally sheet:

  1. The number of people you have had conversations with each day during the campaign period.
  2. The number of patients each day who are referred to their GP practice to address identified medication concerns.
