NHS Contract

The NHS Contract is also known as the CPCF, or The Community Pharmacy Contractual Framework.

In simple terms, it is a 5-year plan detailing how community pharmacy will support delivery of the NHS Long Term Plan.

It comprises the following services:

  • Essential services and clinical governance – those which all pharmacy contractors must provide. NHS England and NHS Improvement (East of England) monitors and commissions these.
  • Advanced services – pharmacy contractors choose to provide such services. Approval and the meeting of certain requirements is needed. NHS England and NHS Improvement (East of England) monitors and commissions these.
  • Locally commissioned services – local authorities, ICBs and NHS England commission such services in response to the needs of the local population.
