Friends, Families & Travellers will be launching a new report on Tackling Suicide Inequalities in Gypsy and Traveller communities’ with a webinar on Wed 14 September from 10.00 – 11.30am. The work has been supported by the OHID Public Mental Health team as part of the NHSE Health & Wellbeing programme funding.

The event will be chaired by Rachael Maskell MP, member of the Gypsy, Traveller and Roma All Party Parliamentary Group, and Vice Chair of the Suicide and Self-harm Prevention All Party Parliamentary Group. In the session, you will:

  • Hear from community speakers on the prevalence of suicide in Gypsy and Traveller communities and it’s impacts
  • Explore practical information and recommendations to support professionals to take action on the social inequalities that lead to high risk of suicide among Gypsy and Traveller populations
  • Hear practical examples of good practice in ensuring that services are inclusive for Gypsy and Traveller people
