Making a Success of your Pharmacy Event 2024
The CPH ‘Making a Success of Your Pharmacy Services’ event was held on Wednesday, 3 July 2024 at the Fielder Centre in Hatfield.
The event was a resounding success! The focus was on best practice tips, new information, and future developments resonated with pharmacy contractors, indicating that the content was relevant and valuable to their professional development.
The event successfully provided attendees with valuable information on the influence of Community Pharmacy England (CPE), new input from Community Pharmacy Hertfordshire (CPH), and strategies to increase uptake of new pharmacy services. Participants gained insights into best practice tips for service implementation, and discussed the future of pharmacies and the role of government. The event successfully facilitated networking, allowing pharmacy contractors to connect with peers, share experiences, and discuss common challenges.
We were joined by guest presenters and Hertfordshire contractors who shared their personal experiences of how they had succeeded in making their services successful.

One of the highlights of the event was the presentation of the CPH Awards in four categories. At the event, the awards were presented by Gordon Hockey, CPE Director of Legal. CPH Awards were judged by:
- Mefino Ogedegbe, Community Pharmacy Clinical Lead, Hertfordshire and West Essex ICB
- James Wood, Community Pharmacy England, Director of Member and LPC Support
- Michael Lennox, National Pharmacy Association
- Lauren Seamons, Joint Chief Officer, Community Pharmacy Norfolk & Suffolk
Gordon Hockey (Director of Legal, Community Pharmacy England) kicked off the event with a presentation in which he covered funding outlook and CPCF negotiations, Community Pharmacy England’s strategy and the General Election and the new Government. He discussed the future of pharmacies and Government involvement which provided contractors with an understanding the future landscape of pharmacies and the role of government, reflecting a desire for strategic foresight.
Bhavin Patel (Pharmacy Manager), S L Anderson Pharmacy, shared a presentation on best practice tips about how he increased his earning potential with NMS, DMS, Contraception, ABPM and other services. Bhavin provided a good insight for Hertfordshire contractors to help to implement positive changes in their pharmacy practices to help increase revenue.
Viral Patel (Pharmacy owner) Laxtons Pharmacy, talked about how they made their pharmacy services successful by giving their presentation which included tips on staff empowerment and development, patient centric approach and operational efficiency.
