Diabetes (Type 2)

Diabetes UK joined forces with the East and North Herts Commissioning Group to launch a peer support and education service for adults with Type 2 diabetes called Type 2 Together.

  • To help people living with Type 2 diabetes be better equipped to manage their condition, support one another, make friends, share experiences and information.
  • Materials are included to inform specially created meeting themes and to help people live well with their Type 2 diabetes.
  • The service is facilitated by fully trained peer support volunteers and a Diabetes Educator also provides support.

The group are looking for volunteers to facilitate the group (Diabetes UK will provide all the training you need) as well as people to come along to meetings. Encourage patients to email Type2Together@diabetes.org.uk or call 0345 123 2399 to speak with their regional co-ordinator about how to get involved.

If patients would like more information on the project please visit the Diabetes UK website: http://www.diabetes.org.uk/How_we_help/Talk-to-someone/Type-2-Together/.
